Nadal House SOLD

Preservation of Wilson’s Nadal House, circa 1916, located at 1007 Nash St. NW in the West-Nash Historic District has sold. With the Roebuck’s vision, the strong work ethic instilled by their parents, and encouragement from Preservation of Wilson, Ned and Valerie’s adventure begins. Allyson Moye, Womble Real Estate represented Preservation of Wilson during the sale.

With an interest in living in either North Carolina or New York, Valerie searched for two years for a project to be their next home. Fortuitously, the Nadal House appeared online. They immediately went to see it and excited about the possibilities. However, the work seemed too daunting for them so they walked away after two visits.

IT TAKES VILLAGE
As serendipity would have it, while in Wake Forest the Roebucks happened to meet Kathy Berni who was very familiar with the house. Berni is one of almost 70 volunteers who generously worked on the property, and she is currently Preservation of Wilson’s Development/Fundraising Chair. While at a dinner party and meeting for the first time, Ned mentioned the Nadal House to Kathy. Kathy encouraged them to look again. With an Open House set during Whirligig Weekend, plumbing work and basement improvements having just been made, Kathy nudged them to visit one more time.

THE BUYERS
Ned and Valerie Roebuck are currently living in Wake Forest. They are retired educators from New York where Ned taught Science and Valerie taught English. Both attended and met at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. They have three children and two granddaughters. Their passion for barns and older homes has been a major part of their life together.

Ned has been involved in residential construction throughout his years as a teacher, from renovating a decrepit 1890’s house in Vermont to building a new home in New York. Now upon retirement, Ned fills his time with renovating and remodeling broken-down mill houses in North Carolina and other historic buildings in New York. Valerie is an artist and creates original paper based pet portraits.
