Our Meetings

When you get involved with Preservation of Wilson you will find a growing grassroots organization with a long list of volunteers supporting the preservation mission. There are many ways to meet your level of interest and work within your time schedule. We would love to have you as a part of the preservation team! MEETINGS & STANDING EVENTS SCHEDULE

Full Board of Trustees’ Quarterly Meetings – Meetings are held at the Wilson Visitors Center, 209 Broad Street.  Meeting dates for 2018 begin on January 18th @ 6 p.m. with our Annual Meeting which is a joint meeting with Trustees and Committee Members. Other quarterly Board of Trustees’ meeting will be held in April, August and November. Dates to be determined.

Executive Committee Meetings – Meetings are held four times a year. The first Meeting date for 2018 is January 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilson Visitors Center. Dates for the remaining three meetings will be determined. Special called meetings set as needed.

2018 Spring Letter Fest – March 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Barton College, Kennedy Family Theater Lobby. Invited guests are the 2018 Team and donors over the Sponsorship level

2018 – 11th Annual Spring Garden Party & Fine Art Show – May 6th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Location: Garden of Vernon Mason & Andrew Summerlin on Watson Drive.

Howl-o-Ween Doggy Costume Party – Sunday, Oct. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at location to be determined.

Marketing – The first 2018 meeting is January 23rd at 6 p.m. at Panera Bread on Raleigh Road. All other meetings are set for the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. on the Barton College Campus.

Properties – Meetings are normally held the last Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. for lunch. All meetings will be held at Bill’s Grill on Nash Street unless otherwise determined. January 31, February 28 (Joint meeting with Visioning and Properties), March 21, April 25, May 30, June 27, July 25, August 29, Sept. 26, October 31 and Nov. 28. Special called meetings will be set as needed.

Finance – The meeting schedule will be determined, however in January there are two meetings: January 8 @ 6:30 p.m at the Wilson County Library and January 15 @ 5 p.m. at the Wilson Visitors Center. Special called meetings will be set as needed.

Visioning – Meetings are held normally on the 2nd Tuesday at month at noon for a brown bag lunch meeting and the business meeting from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the office of Preservation of Wilson unless otherwise determined. Meeting dates are February 13 at noon at Jac’s Grill, 2341 Madison Drive. There will be a second meeting in February on the 28th at 11:30 a.m. as a joint meeting with the Properties and Visioning Committees. Location to be determined. Other dates are April 10th, May 8th, June 12, August 7, Sept. 11, Oct. 9 and Nov. 13. The March meeting will be a tour of the Endangered Properties with date to be set.

Past-Presidents Breakfast – Each year the Past Presidents meet for an annual breakfast. A date will be set soon for the breakfast which will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Amy Jo’s, 4600 Nash Street NW.

Hospitality and Art Committee – Meetings are held as needed.

Resource Development Committee – This committee is chaired by Dr. Frank L. Eagles. Meeting dates as needed.

City of Wilson, Historic Preservation Commission – 1st Wednesday of each month @ 5:30 p.m. at Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, City Hall.

2017 Christmas Tour of Old & Historic Homes – Details will follow on this Old Wilson Neighbors Association tradition.

Preservation NC Annual Conference – October 17 – 19 held in Wilmington, NC.
